For this project I focused on a song, Alles by Computer Data which falls within the Lo-fi house music category and low quality disco edits. This electronic track expressed through deep chords and rolling baselines evokes a relaxing but uplifting quality. The track is forever flowing and represents a great deal of nostalgia which often does not come to an end.
Inspired by Yayoi Kusama’s “In Infinity” exhibition, portraying endless reflections of patterns and shapes, I wanted to create a visual that replicated the infinite and unbroken beats within the track. I was further inspired by the use of sound visualisers which provide merging and intergrading visual correspondent to the frequency information of the track. I decided to create similar reflecting patterns through the use of type creating reoccurring curved lines and shapes that were formed to demonstrate the free flowing beat within the track.
Ultimately the understanding of Alles has taken shape typographically through a type reflective pattern that demonstrates both the fluid and yet reoccurring beat.
